Girl Models: The Finale

Its Wednesday! And if you have been keeping up, not only is it girl model time, but it’s the last girl model in celebration of Women’s History Month. I hope that you have used this time to celebrate, honor, and recognize the women in your life. I also pray that it doesn’t stop here, but that it continues on.

While this will be the last installment of Girl Models here, it won’t be the last time you see this around the blog, so make sure you stay connected.

For the last installment, I wanted to take the time to celebrate someone who means a great deal to me. She is a sister, wife to be, friend, and so much more. I have been blessed to grow with her, learn from her, and stand close by as she navigates the test and trials of life. She is a wonderful example of strength, endurance, and resilience.

Who is she? She is my twin sister, Shynethia Kendrick. I am over the moon in love with who she has grown to be. She has fought through many trials both mentally and physically, but she has managed to keep her smile.

What makes her my girl model is very simple. She is every day. We live in a society that teaches us that being normal is wrong. We ascribe value to women who supposedly can do it all. If you can’t manage a career, raise healthy kids, and be a submissive wife, in some way you have missed “the mark”. Not being excellent in each of these areas somehow takes away from the greatness of woman.

But my sister is not perfect and neither am I. She doesn’t have it all together, but she is still amazing. She faces challenges like the rest of us. Sometimes she wins, other times she doesn’t, but she is still victorious. She has a mindset to learn no matter what the outcome and that is what makes her a bomb girl model.

A great man of God once told me, its not what happens to you, but how you respond that determines who you really are. I want to challenge you to always respond in love no matter what. Choose to define yourself by what you can control, not what you can’t.

I hope this series of blogs has blessed you and encouraged you. As always if you have a girl model you would like to celebrate, leave her name and social media handles below. I am always looking to connect with other awesome women.
